“I want to be an entrepreneur.”

How often do we hear these words uttered today? Entrepreneurship has become the new trend. It’s not only a lifestyle but also a lucrative notion of “being your own boss” that attracts the youth towards this way of life. With the advent of media and technology, there are indeed a lot of factors which tip the scales in favor of entrepreneurship over jobs.

Media and internet is the new face of the 21st century

. Their role in promoting entrepreneurship is highly significant.

· Popular corporate television shows portray new start-ups as fun-filled adventures.

· The media glorifies upcoming entrepreneurs comparing them to the legendary achievers.

· The internet offers a wide range of avenues for new start-ups.

The effect of the media attracting the youth towards entrepreneurship is like a moth drawn to a flame.

Most of us have a creative beast inside us which is waiting to be unleashed. More often than not, as employees, one does not get the opportunity to bring out their creative side while working at jobs. With heads so full of ideas, and no opportunities to express, they feel tied down and suffocated which makes them want to break free.

In the words of Jim Rohn, “Either you run the day, or the day runs you.”

Entrepreneurs have a fire inside them to serve the society and make a change. They don’t want to sit around doing menial jobs. They want to make a difference. They are driven more by purpose, rather than profits. Highly segregated corporate jobs do not give them the job satisfaction they crave. Working corporate jobs does not always make a person feel valued and important, whereas entrepreneurship might give a whole new meaning to a seemingly worthless life.

Entrepreneurship today has become more of an identity rather than an occupation. Successful entrepreneurship has almost become synonymous with making it to the top.

But isn’t it leading to a lot of failures and disturbed families? The other side of the table seems a place to break free. Is breaking free the only view? There are challenges that drag in with this ‘break free’ desire. A few of them can be listed as

· Unpaid days of struggle

· Sleepless nights

· Monthly Payments pressure

· The fund burning pressure until break-even

Hence deciding on the right time to break free is very important which can help to overcome most of the entrepreneurship challenges. The impact of every decision we take is on all the other people who join us to fulfill our vision. In my experiences I believe the key factors that decide and lay down the path to success are

· Implementation of the right strategy at the right time

· Right Utilization of resources

· Choosing the right people to implement the Idea

Although Entrepreneurship comes with lots of challenges yet it can be perfectly justified in the words of Mark Twain-

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.”

BREAK FREE : When and How? Is the Decision to be rightly taken and implemented

Even a bird can’t explore and fly in the open sky unless her wings are matured. We need to be ready before we move out to explore and make a difference. Self strength leads to Emotional strength and gives us the strength to knock off the “T” from can’t. Read “Impossible” as “I am possible”.

It’s always the mind game that matters. When the mind is week the situation becomes a problem. When the mind is balanced the situation becomes a challenge. When the mind is strong, the situation becomes an opportunity.
